Life in Color
revelations

As we were leaving the parking lot of Grammy’s nursing home, I noticed a car with a plate reading “The battle is the Lord’s” and it struck me. Of course, I’ve heard it before, but it never really meant anything to me. For some reason I thought it had something to do with God being my avenger and such.

But this time as I read the verse, it suddenly had a new and very clear meaning. It is NOT my battle. I can kick and scream, and wave my sword around, but I am only going to hurt myself and others. I believe God intends for me to do my part, but not as a general. He is the general. A victorious general. If I just remember to step back from all these battles I’m fighting - for my marriage, myself, a job, a life - and let him take care of the strategy, the provisions, the training, and the good spirits, I won’t have to worry about a thing.
