15 ways to give in times of recession

This year it is pretty hard to find extra money for giving. However, there are still ways to help people out without going bankrupt. Here is a list of things you can do that will cost you $5 or less.

1. Mentor a teenager online at icouldbe.org (they ask for a $5 donation)

2. Send a box of crayons to hospital-bound kids through childsplaycharity.org

3. Donate $5 to dinnergarden.org/feedAFamily.html and provide seeds for enough veggies to feed a family of seven for a year

4. Even the smallest donation can make a big difference in the life of a struggling family if given through smallcanbebig.org

5. Buy 7 pairs of socks for a homeless person for just $5 at hannahssocks.org

6. A small donation at donorschoose.org will help teachers do more with the kids in underfunded classrooms.

7. Just $1 given to vitaminangels.org will provide a child in need with vitamin supplements for 5(!) years.

8. Another $1 will feed four children in Tanzania a healthy breakfast if given though gocampaign.org

9. Yet another $1 donation to feedingamerica.org will provide 9 pounds of groceries to a hungry family in our country.

10. You can donate your old prescription glasses, reading glasses and sunglasses at neweyesfortheneedy.org

11. You can donate used books and magazines to a local library.

12. Knit or crochet a 7x9” square and send it to the address you will find at warmupamerica.org. The squares will be joined together into afghans and given to women’s shelters.

13. Send a holiday card to Military through American Red Cross.

14. Help Uliana, a young Russian woman who wants to give orphans in Russia a chance to live a normal life, pay for her education.  http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/topic.php?uid=111306426133&topic=9827

15. Make some Christmas cards and donate them to Thomas Schmitt http://www.facebook.com/search/?q=Thomas+Shmitt&o=2048&init=ffs#/Tom.Neil.Schmitt - he will sell them to raise money for a mission trip to Ukraine this coming February, where he and his wife will be teaching English for two weeks.

P.S. I personally know these last two people on the list, and can guarantee that your help will be accepted with gratitude and used honestly.
